Accomplishing the Impossible, Is it Possible?

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by a task or cause you believe God is calling you to? I do. When I look at the situation from a human perspective, it can seem like my efforts are attempting to accomplish the impossible. And yet, Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” In moments of doubt or discouragement, it's important to remember that we're not alone in our endeavors if we're walking in step with the Lord's will for our lives.
In John 6:5-9 we read:
When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”
Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”

I’m struck by the faith it took for Andrew to even suggest the loaves of bread and fish, and I can imagine the other disciples rolling their eyes with a dismissive snicker. But Jesus didn’t laugh. He took the pittance that was offered and multiplied it in such an astonishing and abundant manner that there were 12 basketfuls of leftovers.
To this day, Jesus continues to ask us to offer the little we have so that He can transform it into something greater than we could ever imagine. Perhaps you think you are too old, too young, too timid, too outspoken, too busy, or too weak to make a difference in your world. The truth is that not one of us is strong enough, but through the strength of Jesus working powerfully through us, accomplishing much is possible in tandem with Him (2. Cor. 12:9-10).
I encourage you to pray today, “Lord, here I am, your servant. I don’t have much to offer, but I give you all I have. Please use me for Your purposes and multiply everything I do and say so that Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.”
On The Road Again
Last week we were travelling again, this time with the whole family! We visited Focus on the Family Canada where I had the pleasure of being on The Thriving Family podcast. The next day my husband, Mauricio, and I were interviewed about the Lord's faithfulness through our prenatal diagnosis story, and I was able to talk about my new book, Saving Nate: Choosing Life after a Prenatal Diagnosis. The kids even got to be in some shots! We had such a fun time—what special memories we built as a family!
Saving Nate is coming out soon—January 6th! It's the story of fighting for our son's right to life after being given no hope of his survival or recognition of his value by the medical community, and it's the story of clinging to the Lord and trusting in His sovereign will. You can preorder your copy today, and it should arrive just a couple of days after the 6th.
