Finding hope, healing, and encouragement in Jesus through prenatal diagnosis and the ups and downs of life

In 2016 during a twin pregnancy, my husband and I received a devastating prenatal diagnosis and learned that our unborn son had a life-threatening congenital condition. Though he was given little hope of survival, my husband and I made a choice - a choice to not give in to fear but instead give over to God, a choice that led to the miracle of life.

If I thought that overwhelming experience would be the last, I was woefully mistaken. In the three years that followed, I experienced the additional traumas of cancer, anxiety, extreme fatigue, and rejection. But God was faithful through it all. He never left me, but was ever refining me and drawing me closer to Himself, and over the past several years, little by little, He’s been healing and restoring me. I can look back and say with full assurance that the Lord is good.

Zechariah 13:9 says it well:

“This third I will bring into the fire;

I will refine them like silver

and test them like gold.

They will call on my name

and I will answer them;

I will say, ‘They are my people,’

and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”
